Our two games in round 8 didn’t go quite as planned, but after a learning experience against Bendigo, our squad had the chance to come out and prove themselves 2 days later.

Sunday would prove to be a much more back and forth contest, and although we showed great signs of potential through the likes of co-captain Jaz Shelley (23 points) and Shyla Heal (17 points), we would ultimately fall agonisingly short again by a single point at the hands of the Caps.

As the year comes to an end and a new one approaches, here are the dates you need to know.

PLEASE NOTE – During the office closure period there will be no casual shooting at Beyond Bank Stadium.

Future United Stars:

Do you want to be a star of the future?

The Future United Stars program is a skill development program that will teach players how to be able to play competitively.

This program will be coordinated by GUB’s Coach & Athlete Development Manager, Simon Nicholson and coached by GUB’s U12 VJBL Coaches.

Southern Cross Challenge Selections:

Congratulations to our Geelong United players who have been selected to represent Vic Country at the 2026 Southern Cross Challenge.

Get ready for all the action from January 16-19 at the State Basketball Center.

Fast Break Friday:

Looking for some extra game time during the holidays? Fast Break Friday is your chance to hit the court, play non-stop basketball, and have fun with friends!

What is it? Open Runs for community-level players across these age groups:

Under 10’s
Under 12’s
Under 14’s
Under 16’s
Under 18’s

Each session runs for 2 hours of continuous basketball action. Players will be placed into teams based on age group. Games run in 10-minute blocks with short breaks in between – fast-paced and fun!

VJBL Open Runs:

Keep your game sharp this January with GUB’s VJBL Open Runs – Holiday Hoops for Rep Players!

Designed exclusively for VJBL athletes, enjoy high-energy, competitive basketball during the holiday break.

Sessions will run for 2.5 hours, packed with fast-paced games. Players placed into teams on the day. Games run in 10-minute periods for the entire session.

Lost Property:

Lost Property Geelong United Basketball

Due to an increasing amount of lost property piling up, we will be conducting a lost property clean out ahead of the Christmas break, with remaining items to be donated on December 15.

All items from other locations will be brought to Beyond Bank Stadium before the donation cutoff.

If you think you may have any missing items located in lost property, please check now before it’s too late!

Shooting School:

Want to take your game to the next level? Our Shooting School is designed for junior players in the Geelong United Community Competition who are looking for an extra session focused on improving shooting skills through game-like activities.

Learn proper shooting technique
Practice in real-game scenarios
Build confidence and consistency

Each session will be made up of a mix of high-volume repetitions with focused skill development and game-like scenarios.

Take your game to the next level!

Geelong United Basketball’s Step Above Skills Sessions are all about stepping up your game and learning the skills that will help you get ahead of the pack.

TOPIC: Life in the Fast Lane – mastering success in the full court.

These sessions are for VJBL athletes and others wanting to improves their skills by attending one or both sessions. Hosted by special guest Geelong United NBL1 players, each session will be focused on specific skills based development that will help all athletes better their game.
