WELCOME TO GEELONG UNITED BASKETBALL’S WEEKLY UPDATE.

IN THIS EDITION:

NBL1 Update:

Women now at a perfect 20 – Men fall just short:

Nbl1 Scores

Our women’s squad have come out of the weekend with 2 more wins, taking their perfect run to 20 wins in a row for the season with two games left to come before finals.

Taylor Mole was the standout on Saturday night knocking down 20 points, along with 12 rebounds and 2 blocks. Speaking with the Geelong Advertiser, Taylor says she’s feeling “pretty close to old Taylor” following her comeback from a serious back injury which derailed her WNBL campaign. Read her full chat with the Addy here.

Our men’s squad were unfortunately not as successful, losing both outings for the weekend, signalling a definitive end to their season with finals now out of reach with only two regular season games left to play.

Tristan Forsyth lead the way for the home side once again with 24 points, and whilst he was well supported by George Blagojevic and Kaelen Malone who were both in double digits for the game, it wasn’t enough to get over the line against Casey, eventually falling by 6 points.

Next home game:

190725 - Banner Vs Eltham

We’re back home this Saturday night for our last regular season home games! Don’t forget to grab your tickets to our round 15 clash against Eltham. Women from 5pm, Men from 7pm – Get your tickets here.

Big V Youth League Update:

Another 4 game weekend is in the books for our Navexa YL teams.

A big effort from our YL1 women who won both outings and now sit 3rd overall on 14-6 for the season so far.

Our VYC men went 1 from 2 with an impressive win over Casey on Saturday afternoon, but were unable to continue that momentum through to Sunday in Waverley.

With our men’s squad now done for the season, we look ahead to this weekend for the remaining games for our women’s side
