GUB Champs League Wrap – Round 13

GUB Champs League Men’s Game of the Week Wrap: SG Kings vs Lara Giants:

The SG Kings showcased their depth and balance in a strong 102-91 win over the Lara Giants.

With five players scoring in double digits, the Kings proved too tough to handle. Riley Pendergast and Ezekiel Rickard led the way with 22 points each, while Jackson Cone added 20, Riley Lay chipped in 16, and Thomas Snelling contributed 14 in a well-rounded team effort.

Lara’s Jackson Bentley was electric once again, dropping a massive 41 points to keep his side in the contest. Jack Burnett (20 points) and James Box (15 points) provided solid support, but the Giants couldn’t match the Kings’ consistent scoring across the board.

The win lifts SG Kings to 4th on the ladder with an 8-5 record, strengthening their playoff push. Lara, now at 6-7, drop to 6th and will need to regroup quickly to stay in the hunt.

GUB Champs League Women’s Game of the Week Wrap: Pivot City vs Sharks:

The Sharks continued their dominant run in the GUB Champs League, cruising to a 96-43 win over Pivot City.

Georgia Varley was once again unstoppable, dropping 44 points in a performance that further cements her MVP contender status. Neve Terpstra added 17 points, as six of the eight Sharks players hit the scoreboard in a well-rounded team effort.

Pivot City, battling with an undermanned squad, leaned heavily on Emily Lewis (15 points) and Vanessa Marsh (14 points), who worked tirelessly to keep their side competitive. Despite their efforts, the depth and firepower of the undefeated Sharks proved too much to handle.

The win keeps the Sharks perfect at 10-0, sitting comfortably atop the ladder and looking increasingly like the team to beat this season. Pivot City, now 3-8, drop to 4th and will need to regroup quickly to stay in playoff contention.
