GUB Champs League Men’s Game of the Week Wrap: Try Boys vs. Surf Coasters
Try Boys delivered a scoring spectacle in their 110-92 win over the Surfcoasters, led by a phenomenal 52-point performance from Jay Posterino.
Running with just a six-man squad, Try Boys showed grit and chemistry, with four of the remaining five players also hitting double digits to support Posterino’s offensive explosion.
Despite the loss, the Surfcoasters had standout efforts from Evan Juros (29 points) and William Macpherson (24 points), showcasing flashes of brilliance throughout the game. However, they couldn’t keep pace with the relentless scoring pressure from the Try Boys, who controlled the tempo and punished defensive lapses.
The win pushes Try Boys to 5th on the ladder with a 6-5 record, keeping them firmly in the playoff hunt. Meanwhile, the Surfcoasters drop to 9th at 2-10, with work to do to climb back into contention.

GUB Champs League Women’s Game of the Week Wrap: YMCA vs. Try Boys
YMCA secured a gritty 59-45 win over Try Boys in this week’s GUB Champs League Game of the Week, showing resilience and leadership despite a short rotation.
Geelong United Women’s Youth League talents Taylah Richards (17 points) and Aleks Connolly (14 points) led the way, with four of their remaining five players also contributing to the scoreboard in a well-rounded team effort.
Try Boys, missing key players including Jade Chow—currently representing at the junior national champs—were left without a bench. Olivia Virt stepped up with a strong 21-point performance, but the lack of depth proved costly in key moments as YMCA pulled away late.
The win gives YMCA a much-needed boost as they look to climb off the bottom of the ladder, while Try Boys, despite the loss, remain in 3rd place overall. With momentum shifting, YMCA will be hoping this result sparks a turnaround in their season.
Other Results: Pivot City def. Wildcats 80-70, Sharks had the bye.
