WNBL Update:

Our squad returned to home court on Saturday night with redemption in mind against Bendigo, who so far this season have had their number.
While the team fought hard, ultimately Bendigo would keep their streak against us alive scoring a 6 points win, 71-77.
Bright spots for the contest included a big night out for Shyla Heal, with her most impressive outing since returning from a serious knee injury. Shyla dropped 26 points to go along with 3 rebounds and 3 assists.
Mackenzie Holmes (15 points) and Jaz Shelley (14) were our other main contributors in the clash, alopng with Alex Sharp adding 12 off the bench.
Next up, we’re hitting the road for a big matchup against the Southside Melbourne Flyers tomorrow night from 7pm at the State Basketball Centre.

Community Development Program:
Looking to build your skills and get an extra training session in each week?
The Community Development Program is a great opportunity for players in the GUB Community Competitions to grow their game in a relaxed and supportive environment.
Each session focuses on:
- Skill development
- Game IQ
- Confidence building
Led by Program Coordinator Courtney Burke, the program offers a fun and engaging space for players to learn, improve, and enjoy basketball even more.

Future United Stars:
Do you want to be a star of the future?
The Future United Stars program is a skill development program that will teach players how to be able to play competitively.
This program will be coordinated by GUB’s Coach & Athlete Development Manager, Simon Nicholson and coached by GUB’s U12 VJBL Coaches.

Fast Break Friday:
Looking for some extra game time during the holidays? Fast Break Friday is your chance to hit the court, play non-stop basketball, and have fun with friends!
What is it? Open Runs for community-level players across these age groups:
- Under 10’s
- Under 12’s
- Under 14’s
- Under 16’s
- Under 18’s
Each session runs for 2 hours of continuous basketball action. Players will be placed into teams based on age group. Games run in 10-minute blocks with short breaks in between – fast-paced and fun!

VJBL Open Runs:
Keep your game sharp this January with GUB’s VJBL Open Runs – Holiday Hoops for Rep Players!
Designed exclusively for VJBL athletes, enjoy high-energy, competitive basketball during the holiday break.
Sessions will run for 2.5 hours, packed with fast-paced games. Players placed into teams on the day. Games run in 10-minute periods for the entire session.

Lost Property:

Due to an increasing amount of lost property piling up, we will be conducting a lost property clean out ahead of the Christmas break, with remaining items to be donated on December 15.
If you think you may have any missing items located in lost property, please check now before it’s too late!
Shooting School:
Want to take your game to the next level? Our Shooting School is designed for junior players in the Geelong United Community Competition who are looking for an extra session focused on improving shooting skills through game-like activities.
- Learn proper shooting technique
- Practice in real-game scenarios
- Build confidence and consistency
Each session will be made up of a mix of high-volume repetitions with focused skill development and game-like scenarios.

Step Above Skills Sessions:
Take your game to the next level!
Geelong United Basketball’s Step Above Skills Sessions are all about stepping up your game and learning the skills that will help you get ahead of the pack.
TOPIC: Life in the Fast Lane – mastering success in the full court.
These sessions are for VJBL athletes and others wanting to improves their skills by attending one or both sessions. Hosted by special guest Geelong United NBL1 players, each session will be focused on specific skills based development that will help all athletes better their game.

CSO Opportunities:
Become a Customer Service Officer with GUB.
These paid positions are a great chance to earn some extra cash, with both weeknight and weekend shifts available.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Must be 18+ years of age
- Previous customer service experience (preferred)
- Experience in a sporting environment or community sport (desirable)
- Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and independently
- Confident in using tablets/iPads and basic apps (e.g., PlayHQ)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to lift and move equipment of 10kg
- First Aid Certificate
- Working with Children Check
