WNBL Update:
Two big games brought two bigger wins last week!
First up, it was another attempt at taking down the Perth Lynx, who stole a 1 point win from us on home floor less than 2 weeks ago. This time around though it was Geelong’s name inked in the winners column, as we walked away 19 point winners off a show stopping performance by emerging point guard, Lilly Rotunno.
Then on Friday night it was a Victoria derby, as we played host to the Southside Melbourne Flyers. In a scrappy slugfest, we emerged victorious once again by 12 points thanks to some tough work by star import Mackenzie Holmes.
The two wins now take us to fourth place on the WNBL ladder with a 3-4 record.
We’re back on home court on December 7!
Sunday afternoon hoops tips off from 12:30pm at the Strike House, as we play host to the UC Capitals.

New Partnership – Kennedys Group:
Geelong Venom & Geelong United Basketball is proud to announce Kennedys Group as its new Naming Rights WNBL Community Program Partner and GUB Community Partner.
Established as a family business by plumber Allan Kennedy in 1976, Kennedys began as a small, family-run plumbing business with a strong history of servicing Melbourne and surrounds.
Year after year, through industry booms, economic busts and pandemics, Kennedys adapted and thrived as an industry leader in Principal Contracting, commercial and industrial Plumbing and the Asbestos & Environmental service spaces.
This new partnership between Geelong Venom, GUB and Kennedys will continue to help strengthen the connection between local business and grassroots sport across the region.

As part of Geelong Venom’s WNBL game night on Friday November 14, Geelong United Basketball held its Community Awards – Highlighting the fantastic achievements of our community clubs, players and staff.

CSO Opportunities:
Become a Customer Service Officer with GUB.
These paid positions are a great chance to earn some extra cash, with both weeknight and weekend shifts available.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Must be 18+ years of age
- Previous customer service experience (preferred)
- Experience in a sporting environment or community sport (desirable)
- Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and independently
- Confident in using tablets/iPads and basic apps (e.g., PlayHQ)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to lift and move equipment of 10kg
- First Aid Certificate
- Working with Children Check

United In Purple:
We’re turning the courts purple for United in Purple Day to celebrate International Day of People with a Disability!
Whether you’re a player, coach, referee, or staff member, we want to see you rocking purple with your uniform at your community comp game on Wednesday, December 3rd!
Let’s light up the courts with colour, unity, and support for inclusion in sport.
U8’s Competitions – Female players needed:
We are currently seeking U8 girls players.
There are currently openings for female players born in or after 2019 to participate in the U8’s Girls competitions for the summer 25/26 season
Games are held on Saturday mornings – Time will vary, but are typically between 8:00 and 11:00 am.

Community Development Program:
Looking to build your skills and get an extra training session in each week?
The Community Development Program is a great opportunity for players in the GUB Community Competitions to grow their game in a relaxed and supportive environment.

Practice Like a Pro is a 6-week high-intensity skill development program built to mirror how professional players train.
Each week, players will step into a purposefully designed session that follows the same structure, standards, and flow as a pro-level workout — focused on efficiency, detail, and game-ready execution.

Do you want to be a star of the future?
The Future United Stars program is a skill development program that will teach players how to be able to play competitively.

Geelong United Basketball has teamed up with Freedom Sports to bring you its latest program, Momentum Hoops.
This skill-development initiative is for junior wheelchair basketball players aged 8+. Enjoy an inclusive program focusing on building basketball skills, confidence, and teamwork, while empowering young athletes to reach their full potential in a supportive and fun environment.
