TAC Proudly Sponsors Koorr Koorr Ngitji tournament with Geelong United Basketball
The Transport Accident Commission (TAC) is proud to sponsor Geelong United Basketball for the Koorr Koorr Ngitji tournament, a celebration of community, connection, and the love of the game.
The TAC is dedicated to reducing road trauma and supporting those impacted by road accidents. With a core purpose of caring for the lives of everyone who travels on Victoria’s roads, the TAC funds treatment and services for people affected by road trauma. It also plays a vital role in promoting road safety, educating the Victorian community, and working with partners to foster a safety-first road culture.
The TAC also recognises the power of sport in recovery. David Harcon, a TAC client from Shepparton, sustained serious injuries in a road accident at age 19, leaving him paralysed from the waist down. With the TAC’s support, David accessed rehabilitation and community reintegration services.
“I experienced a life-altering spinal cord injury in a motor vehicle accident 33 years ago, which left me paralysed from the waist down. Since then, the Transport Accident Commission (TAC) has been a crucial support system for me in all areas of my life, from home modifications to employment assistance, and providing specialised equipment to allow me to continue to play sport.”
Through hard work, determination and the TAC’s support, David returned to sport and ultimately represented Australia in wheelchair basketball. Today, he remains active in the sporting community and is a passionate advocate for road safety.
As players, families, and supporters travel to and from the Koorr Koorr Ngitji tournament, we want everyone to arrive safely. Here are a few simple steps you can take to ensure your journey is a safe one.
· Allow extra time to reach your destination.
· Take regular breaks to stay alert, especially on longer drives.
· Stick to the speed limit and drive to the conditions.
· Avoid distractions. Your focus should always be on the road.
The TAC is proud to stand with Geelong United Basketball to share an important message: it takes all of us to drive change. So, start the conversation. Talk to your teammates, your family, and your community about making safer choices, because every journey matters, and every voice helps build a safer future.
When it comes to road safety, recovery, and community wellbeing—it takes all of us.
