WELCOME TO GEELONG UNITED BASKETBALL’S WEEKLY UPDATE.

IN THIS EDITION:

NBL1 Update:

A Double W At Home:

Nbl1 Scores

What a night it was as our teams got back on home floor for the first time in close to a month!

After the long road stretch, a rowdy Blue Crew crowd packed the Geelong arena to see our Plan Group Geelong United squads go two from two for the evening.

Jaz Shelley once again starred for the Women, racking up 26 points along with 4 assists and 5 steals. Gemma Potter (19pts, 6reb, 5ast) and a returning Hannah Hank (15pts, 11reb, 3ast) were the other main contributors for the side with every player getting court time and noticeable contributions in a true team win.

The Men’s contest stayed a little tighter throughout with Geelong eventually pulling away, besting their opponents in 3 of four quarters. Tristan Forsyth was again an imposing figure for the home side, continuing his stellar form with 29 points, 9 rebounds and a spectacular block. DeMarcus Gatlin also put on one of his best performances so far this season, adding 19 points along with 12 rebounds and 5 assists.
With the team beginning to hit its stride, we’re left to wonder for the meantime what a full strength Geelong outfit will be able to achieve, with local star George Blagojevic (knee injury) and import guard Kaelen Malone (broken hand) still to return for the season.

Next home game:

310525 - Banner Vs Melbourne

We’re back on the road for another couple of weeks before returning home at the end of the month! Don’t forget to grab your tickets to our round nine clash against Melbourne on May 31. Women from 5pm, Men from 7pm – Get your tickets here.

A big double header is on the way this Saturday night as both teams get set to take on Eltham at the Geelong Arena.
