Geelong United Basketball Women’s Championship Wrap | Round 11

A 19-9 third quarter has proved the difference as CC Eagles kept alive its slim Geelong United Basketball Women’s Winter Championship finals hopes with a 54-40 win over YMCA at AWA Alliance Bank Stadium on Tuesday night.

Led by 16 points from Alivia Osborne, the Eagles chalked up their third win of the season.

Veteran Candy Byrt and the experienced Becky Linke both contributed nine points.

Taylah Richards led Y’s scoring with 11 points, with Kim Hammond and Harmony Parker each contributing eight points.

14-year-old Miley Dawkins was the standout as Pivot City maintained a share of top spot with a 72-56 win over Surfcoasters at Geelong Arena.

Dawkins, who made her Big V Youth League debut for Geelong United earlier this month, finished with 26 points.

Evie Perez (15 points), Shayna Poto (14) and Eve Bralis (13) provided Pivot with plenty of scoring options.

Eloise Moran (16 points) and Amelia Jovic (10) helped Surfcoasters outscore Pivot in the second half.

GUB MEN’S WINTER CHAMPIONSHIP | ROUND 11

Wildcats proved too strong for Try Boys with a 77-34 victory at AWA.

Chantelle Hall paced Wildcats’ scoring with 26 points. Charlotte Armstrong (16 points) and Jasmine King (12) were also prominent.

Shania Soutar (14 points) and Jacinta Maloney (12) were best for the Bears.

Sharks had the bye
