Each week we’ll be selecting VJBL teams to be a part of our weekly wrap!
With phase two, round 3 of VJBL grading games completed, check out all the latest from each of this week’s selected teams below:
U12 Girls 2: W 23-7
Our junior girls team delivered an outstanding performance at home this week at Geelong Arena, securing a strong 23–7 win over Darebin.
The game was played against a physical and determined opposition, but our girls matched the challenge with excellent intensity and focus from start to finish. While we missed a number of shots and free throws, the team maintained pressure throughout the match and stayed committed to structured play and coach instructions.
Teamwork once again proved to be our biggest strength. Every player showed dedication and discipline, working together consistently and supporting each other on every possession. It was especially impressive to see the strong bond across the group — the girls continually backed one another both on and off the court, demonstrating true team spirit.
A special highlight of the match was a major milestone, with one of our players celebrating her 100th game — a fantastic achievement and a proud moment for the entire team.
This victory means the team finishes the second grading phase undefeated — a tremendous reward for the hard work, commitment, and positive attitude shown each week. Every player contributed, making it a complete team effort.
It was also wonderful to see so many friends and family members in attendance. The support from the sidelines created a great atmosphere, and the team sincerely thanks everyone who came to cheer them on. Your ongoing encouragement plays a big part in the success and confidence of this amazing girls team.
Outstanding effort by all players.

U14 Boys 4: L 35-46
Our squad made the looonnng trip down to Seaford for our contest with the Chelsea Gulls on Friday night.
We have been working extremely hard on our style of play at training and putting those lessons into action on a Friday night.
To move forward, sometimes we have to take a step back to get it right, the GUB way. The boys are on the right path and contests like Friday night only strengthen our resolve.
We didn’t play well and we stayed with our opponents for the majority of the night. A massive positive for us with scope for huge improvement to come.
A real even scoring night across the board with some great individual defensive efforts from Jaxon Whitten, Joshua Staff, Logan Kirwan, Jarvis Wharton and Sebastian Fuller.
U18 Boys 4: W 45-39
Sitting in a three-way tie on wins after three rounds, finished 3rd in the second phase on percentage.
• Lost to Western Port 1 (66–50)
• Defeated Coburg 2 (53–49)
• Defeated Blackburn 1 (45–39)
The Western Port game highlighted areas around rebounding, physicality, and transition defence, but the group responded strongly with two hard-fought wins.
This will see them play the first cross-over against a solid Collingwood squad next week. Go united!
