Each week we’ll be selecting VJBL teams to be a part of our weekly wrap!
With another big night of VJBL grading games completed, check out all the latest from each of this week’s selected teams below:
U12 Girls 2: W 25-12
The girls delivered an impressive performance against Western Port on the Mornington Peninsula, securing a well-deserved 25–12 victory through disciplined teamwork and strong defensive pressure.
The team entered the match focused and composed, bringing a determined mindset from the opening tip-off. Every player contributed with energy and commitment, showing excellent effort across all four quarters. Despite some challenging officiating moments, the group maintained their composure and stayed focused on their structure and style of play.
Defensively, Geelong United set the tone early, applying consistent pressure and limiting Western Port’s scoring opportunities. Their defensive intensity created multiple turnovers and allowed the team to control the tempo of the game. Offensively, the girls converted their chances through smart ball movement and strategic decision-making, capitalising on the opportunities created at the defensive end.
The match also marked a milestone game for one players, making the strong team performance and result even more special.
Overall, it was a resilient, disciplined, and team-first performance that reflects the group’s continued development and commitment.
U14 Boys 4: L 32-36
The boys finally had a chance to play on home turf against a Waverley team hungry to make up for a close loss in their first game of grading phase 2.
It took a while to get anything going offensively but our defence was strong the entire contest and that kept the scores level most of the game.
We plucked away and had our chances, but lacked composure in the final stages of the game and dropped a game we probably should have won.
Having said that though, still so many positives to be taken from the contest to build on an overall great start to our journey.
Micah Barrie topped scored with 6, Gregory Ang added 5 and multiple players had 4 points.
On to the next.
U16 Girls 4: L 28-67
The girls did an excellent job in the first half keeping the score within 5 points before unfortunately running out of legs.
Stacey and Izzy J did an amazing job stopping the opposition from scoring from inside the key.
Jasmines 3 pointer near the start of the game helped bring back momentum or way.
U16 Boys 4: W 57-54
The team travelled all the way to Ringwood and absolutely smashed it and made that drive worth it with a 57-54 win.
Score was up and down all game and each kid stepped up at some stage that got us over the line!!
Great Team Effort. 2 from 2 this grading period.
