GUB Champs League Wrap – Round 12

RL Signs GUB Champs League Women’s Game of the Week: YMCA vs. Wildcats

The RL Signs GUB Champs League Game of the Week lived up to its billing as a top-of-the-table clash, with the second-placed Wildcats producing a commanding performance to defeat ladder leaders YMCA 74-47 and claim top spot.

Despite arriving with just six players, the Wildcats showcased impressive depth and efficiency, with every player getting on the scoresheet. Four Wildcats finished in double figures, led by Paige Pititto’s 19-point effort. Tania Du Plessis provided strong support with 14 points, while Charlotte Armstrong added 13 in a balanced offensive display that proved too much for YMCA to contain.

To their credit, YMCA continued to battle throughout the contest and were led by an outstanding performance from Harmony Parker, who topped all scorers with 23 points. Miley Dawkins also made a significant contribution with 18 points, but the Wildcats’ ability to generate scoring from multiple avenues ultimately proved the difference.

The result sees the two sides swap positions on the ladder, with the Wildcats moving into first place and YMCA slipping to second, adding further intrigue to an already exciting RL Signs GUB Champs League season.

RL Signs GUB Champs League Men’s Game of the Week: Sharks vs. Lara Giants

The RL Signs GUB Champs League Men’s Game of the Week saw Lara Giants continue their late-season surge, claiming an impressive 81-70 victory over the Sharks to improve to 6-6 for the campaign.

Lara’s dynamic duo of Jack Burnett and Nate Hargrave proved unstoppable throughout the contest, combining for a remarkable 57 points. Burnett poured in 29 points, while Hargrave was right behind him with 28 as the Giants controlled the scoreboard for much of the evening. The Giants also received valuable contributions across the roster, with six of their seven players finding the basket in a balanced team performance.

The Sharks refused to go away, staying within striking distance thanks largely to the efforts of Devante Francis. Francis delivered a team best performance with 23 points, while Kai Horrobin provided strong support with 17. Despite their determination, the Sharks were unable to find enough offensive support to reel in the Giants.

With seven rounds remaining, Lara appears to be hitting form at exactly the right time and will be eager to build momentum toward the finals. While still searching for their first win, the Sharks continue to show signs they have the talent to trouble opponents before the season is out.
