GUB’s Community Spotlight Series aims to shine a light on our community clubs that make up the majority of our weekly competitions.
We’ll be checking in with all club presidents to find out not only about them, but also some club history and what’s happening behind the scenes.
Tell us a bit about yourself and how long you’ve been affiliated with the club?
I started as a player at the club over 20 years ago. I progressed into coaching and have been active on the clubs committee. I’m grateful to hold the CC Eagles club president position. A role held for the last 9 years.
What area of Geelong does the club represent?
The CC Eagles is an all-inclusive basketball club open to both Christian College and the wider community, that promotes the development of our members at all levels of competition throughout Geelong, Bellarine and the Surf Coast.
How long has your club been operational for and what are some of the historical milestones for the club?
The CC Eagles Basketball Club was established in 1993, founded by Daryl Riddle OAM with 6 teams and 50 players.
The club is fortunate to have grown to over 70 junior/senior teams and 600 players that play across the Geelong United Basketball Association, Bellarine Peninsula Basketball Association and Surf Coast Basketball Association.
The CC Eagles basketball club is grateful to have so many fantastic team managers, parents and coaching volunteers that are the heartbeat of the club.
What does the future hold for your club?
The CC Eagles aims to build a sustainable high-performing basketball club that unites our community through excellence, pride and lasting connections.
It’s exciting to see growth across all associations the club is associated with.
