Each week we’ll be selecting VJBL teams to be a part of our weekly wrap!
With round 7 of the 2026 season now in the books, check out all the latest from each of this week’s selected teams below:
U14 Boys 2: L 38-51
Great overall team play and effort for the majority of the game, with only a small 1 half/2 minute period where they gained a bit of momentum and jumped out to a double digit lead.
Key learning being we have to ensure we play and concentrate for the full 32 minutes however super proud of the boys as they gave it their all.
U14 Boys 4: L 43-55
We traveled down to Eagle stadium with 8 players to play a Wyndham squad we have had previous success against.
We warmed up well but seemed really flat early and just couldn’t get any real energy into our game, unfortunately that continued throughout the contest.
We had some great moments though, especially defensively and that defensive pressure led to some well earned transition baskets. This has been our main focus over the past month or so, really trying to get that kick ahead pass to an open teammate.
Our opponents attacked their advantages more often than we did and that was the difference in the end.
We are so close to breaking a game open. We just need to trust the process, trust each other and be predictable. If we do, I’m sure the positives will outweigh the negatives over the remaining games of our season.
William Bogemann finished with 14 points and 3 rebounds, Jaxon Whitten had 7 points and 7 rebounds, Logan Kirwan had a great all round game with 3 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists, Gregory Ang added 10 points and 3 assists whilst Spencer Pearson scored 6 points and had 5 assists.
U14 Boys 7: W 52-29
After a slow start and an even game our boys worked our way to a small lead by half time.
The 3rd quarter again was fairly even, but the final quarter our boys had the legs to take off and comfortably take the points.
Our aim was for the boys to show how much they had grown by playing with minimal coaching from the bench.
U18 Boys 4: W 63-51
A strong defensive effort and balance carried the 63-51 win against Wyndham U18 Boys 2, highlighted by Zachariah Staff’s ultra-efficient 15 points on 7 of 9 shooting with 4 steals and Patrick Cooper’s team-high 16 points plus 9 rebounds.
The group generated pressure with 9 team steals and turned activity into extra chances with 10 offensive rebounds.
Despite the result, sharpening the edge at the line will add separation, as 11 of 18 from the line limited the cushion.
Zach Price added 12 points, while Carlyn Muaiava’s 5 assists helped keep the offense organised even as 3-point shooting finished at 24 percent.
U18 Boys 7: W 47-35
A smothering defensive effort powered a 47-35 win, highlighted by 26 team steals that constantly turned pressure into points and a massive lift on the glass with 19 offensive rebounds.
Lucas Gilligan paced the scoring with 14 points, while QJ Davis-Pavihi added 10 on efficient shooting and a perfect 2 of 2 at the line.
The group battled through a cold night from deep and at the stripe, with 3-point shooting at 18 percent and free throws at 40 percent, but the extra possessions and takeover defense carried the day. Sharpening touch around the rim, where inside shooting finished at 33 percent, can raise the ceiling next time out.
