Geelong United Youth League Coaches – Big V YL Season 2026

Geelong United Basketball (GUB) is pleased to announce our 2 Big V Youth League coaches for season 2026.

Luke Beard has once again signed on to continue his role with the YL Men’s squad in what will be his 5th year in charge.

There will, however, be a fresh face at the helm of the YL Women’s squad with Hannah Ronan-Black taking on the role.

HANNAH RONAN-BLACK:

A rising star in Australian basketball coaching, Hannah brings a wealth of experience and leadership to the role.

Currently serving as a Development Coach for Geelong United’s WNBL program (2024–26), she also holds assistant coaching roles with Geelong United’s NBL1 team and Basketball Victoria’s U20 State team, showcasing her versatility and commitment to player development at elite levels.

Hannah also contributed to the Bulleen Boomers’ Youth League Championship and Championship Women’s programs in 2024, and has been a dedicated VJBL coach since 2022. Her strategic insight, player-first approach, and passion for the game make her a dynamic leader poised to elevate Geelong United’s YL Women’s program.

LUKE BEARD:

Big V Youth League Head Coaches Luke Beard Geelong United Basketball

Luke returns for his fifth season as Head Coach of Geelong United’s Big V Youth League Men’s team, continuing to build one of the region’s most consistent development programs.

With four years as Assistant Coach for Geelong United’s NBL1 Men’s squad, Luke brings elite-level insight and leadership to the youth space.

A cornerstone of Geelong’s basketball community, he has coached in the VJBL for over 15 years and served more than a decade as a respected floor coach in Basketball Victoria’s FDP and SDP pathways, helping shape the next generation of talent.

Most recently, Luke led a representative squad to a bronze medal at an international youth tournament, further cementing his reputation for excellence on the global stage.

His deep experience, player-first philosophy, and commitment to long-term development make him a vital figure in Geelong United’s coaching ranks.
