GUB Champs League Men’s Game of the Week Wrap: YMCA vs. Try Boys
YMCA pulled off a thrilling 91–90 victory over Try Boys in this week’s GUB Champs League Game of the Week, in what was arguably the most exciting contest of the season so far. The game went down to the wire, with YMCA holding firm in the final moments to secure the one-point win.
Geelong Big V Youth representative Hugh Buckby was outstanding for YMCA, dropping 26 points in a high-energy performance. He was well supported by Big V Youth League captain Bailey Bruce, who added 17, while three other YMCA players also finished in double figures, showcasing the team’s depth and unselfish ball movement.
Try Boys were led once again by the red-hot Jay Posterino, who continued his sensational form with a game-high 34 points. Seb Thomason added 22 points in another strong outing, but it wasn’t quite enough to get their side over the line.
With the win, YMCA leap into 3rd place on the ladder at 6-1, while Try Boys slip to 4th with a 4-2 record.

GUB Champs League Women’s Game of the Week Wrap: Sharks vs. Try Boys
The Sharks continued their unbeaten streak with a strong 78–63 win over Try Boys in this week’s GUB Champs League Game of the Week. The ladder leaders once again showed why they’re the team to beat, combining experience, depth, and scoring power to maintain their perfect record.
Cortney Hollowood led the way with 26 points in another composed and efficient performance, while early MVP contender Georgia Varley backed her up with 20 points, continuing her dominant run through the season. The Sharks’ control and execution proved too much to handle, particularly in the second half.
Try Boys, despite having no bench and relying solely on their starting five, delivered a gutsy performance. Jade Chow continued her stellar season with 21 points, while Alivia Osborne (18) and Olivia Virt (16) fought hard to keep their team in the contest.
With the win, the Sharks remain undefeated and firmly on top of the ladder. Try Boys, though still winless, can take heart from their resilience and will look to turn things around in the coming rounds.
