GUB Champs League Men’s Game of the Week Wrap: Try Boys vs. Lara Giants

Try Boys delivered an offensive masterclass in this week’s GUB Champs League Game of the Week, powering past the Lara Giants 117–94 in a high-scoring affair. The win moves Try Boys to 4-1 on the season, leapfrogging Lara into fourth place on the ladder.

Big V Youth League and NBL1 talent Jay Posterino was unstoppable, lighting up the scoreboard with 42 points in a commanding performance. He was well-supported by Harry McGough, who added 30 points, and Seb Thomason with 21, as Try Boys ran rampant on the offensive end.

Lara put up a strong fight, with Jackson Bentley leading the charge with 30 points. James Box (23 points) and Jack Burnett (20 points) also found their rhythm, but defensively the Giants struggled without key stopper Lukas Bentley, sidelined with a wrist injury.

Despite Lara’s scoring efforts, they couldn’t contain Try Boys’ firepower across four quarters. The result sees the Giants fall to 5th spot with a 4-2 record, while Try Boys move to 4th, continuing their strong campaign with another statement win.

GUB Champs League Women’s Game of the Week Wrap: Wildcats vs. YMCA

The Wildcats put together a dominant team performance to take down YMCA 86–55 in this week’s GUB Champs League Game of the Week.

With all nine players hitting the scoreboard, the Wildcats showcased their depth and cohesion to pull away in the second half and solidify their spot in the top two. Kiara Foster led the charge with 18 points, setting the tone early with her aggressive play. Jaimee Crombie added 13 points, while the entire roster contributed offensively in a well-rounded display that left YMCA struggling to keep pace.

YMCA’s effort was led by Taylah Richards, who put in a strong showing with 19 points. Big V Youth League and NBL1 talent Aleks Connolly also chipped in with 16, but the pair lacked the support needed to match the Wildcats’ relentless pressure on both ends of the floor.

The win sees the Wildcats improve to 4-1, opening up a valuable gap between themselves and the rest of the chasing pack. YMCA now sit third with a 2-3 record, still well in the mix as the season heats up.

Other results: Sharks def. Pivot City 87-68, Try Boys had the bye.
