Wallace to lead NBL1 in 2023

Geelong United Basketball is proud to announce the signing of Grant Wallace as our new NBL1 Men Head Coach for 2023.

Currently the State Head Coach in Basketball Victoria, Wallace’s breadth of knowledge and experience will ensure that our NBL1 Men, and program in general will maintain the high standard of winning and culture our supporters have come to expect.

Having played state-level basketball in his early years, before moving into the NBL for 3 seasons with the North Melbourne Giants, Grant then took his talents to the SEABL competition where he won a National Championship in 1993 with North East Melbourne.

With an illustrious playing career, Wallace’s experience at the top level for so many years as a player will be a welcome addition to the Geelong United Ranks and will be sure to advance our NBL1 players to the next level.

Having coached over 550 SEABL/NBL1 games over the last 25 years, along with 3 coach of the year awards, as well as being a head coach of multiple state-level teams in Victoria, we are excited to be able to bring in someone of Grant’s calibre into our program.

With the NBL1 preseason set to get underway later this year, before ramping up into the 2023 season, we are excited to see where Wallace can elevate the team too, in what is set to be the biggest year of NBL1 and Basketball action in Geelong ever.
