RL Signs GUB Champs League Women’s Game of the Week: Try Boys vs. Surfcoasters
Try Boys strengthened their hold on third place in the RL Signs GUB Champs League Women’s competition with a hard-fought 74-68 victory over Surfcoasters in the Game of the Week.
Leading the way for Try Boys was Jade Chow, who produced a dominant performance with a game-high 23 points. She received strong support from her teammates, with Sienna Quinlan adding 16 points and Alivia Osborne contributing 10 as four Try Boys players finished in double figures.
Despite the loss, Surfcoasters remained competitive throughout the contest. Sienna McCumber and Loni Williams paced the scoring with 14 points apiece, while all eight players on the roster found their way onto the scoresheet. The balance across the lineup helped Surfcoasters claim wins in two of the four quarters, but a lack of scoring depth proved costly, with only three players reaching double figures.
The result sees Try Boys improve their position on the ladder, moving a game clear in third place and sitting just two wins behind competition leaders Wildcats and YMCA, who both boast nine victories. Surfcoasters now hold a 3-5 record and remain in last place despite an encouraging performance.

RL Signs GUB Champs League Men’s Game of the Week: Surfcoasters vs. Vytis Knights
Vytis Knights kept their finals hopes alive with an impressive 86-68 victory over Surfcoasters in the RL Signs GUB Champs League Men’s Game of the Week.
Geelong United NBL1 representative Paul Gakmar was outstanding for the Knights, finishing with a game-high 29 points and proving a constant threat at both ends of the floor. He was well supported by Charles McCredden, who added 17 points, while Jay Dunstan chipped in with 13 as Vytis showcased the scoring depth that ultimately separated the two sides.
Surfcoasters fought hard throughout the contest and were led by a strong performance from William Macpherson, who poured in 25 points. Valentino Delmo and Evan Juros also contributed 12 points each, but the Knights’ balanced offensive attack proved difficult to contain over four quarters.
The victory ensures Vytis remain within striking distance of the top four with six rounds remaining in the regular season. Currently sitting outside the finals positions, they are chasing down fifth-placed Lara (6-7) and fourth-placed CC Eagles (7-4).
Despite slipping to 4-8, Surfcoasters still have opportunities ahead to build momentum and play spoiler in the race for finals positions, with several important matchups looming in the coming weeks.
