RL Signs GUB Champs League Women’s Game of the Week: Surfcoasters vs. YMCA
YMCA has reclaimed top spot on the RL Signs GUB Champs League Women’s ladder after a hard-fought 78-70 victory over Surfcoasters in the Game of the Week.
The contest was evenly matched for much of the night, with neither side able to create significant separation through the opening three quarters. However, YMCA produced a strong finish when it mattered most, outscoring Surfcoasters 23-10 in the final term to secure the important win.
Geelong United Big V Youth Championship representative Harmony Parker was sensational for YMCA, delivering a match-winning performance with 45 points. Fellow Big V teammate Aleks Connolly provided excellent support with 19 points, while Taylah Richards completed the representative trio’s contribution with 12 points.
Surfcoasters were led by Sienna McCumber, who finished with 24 points, while Matilda Camm added 16 and Eloise Butcher chipped in with 13. Despite sitting at the bottom of the ladder, Surfcoasters showed plenty of determination and remained within striking distance throughout the contest.
The result sees YMCA move a game clear of the second-placed Wildcats, while Surfcoasters fall to a 3-7-1 record after 15 rounds despite another spirited display.

RL Signs GUB Champs League Men’s Game of the Week: Sharks vs. Wildcats
The Wildcats have kept their finals hopes alive with an impressive 97-81 victory over the Sharks in the RL Signs GUB Champs League Men’s Game of the Week.
Wildcats were led by a dominant performance from William Jones, who poured in a game-high 31 points to spearhead the attack. He received strong support from brother Cory Jones, who added 17 points, while recent returnee Seth Garcia continued his impressive form with 20 points in a valuable contribution.
The Sharks battled hard throughout the contest and once again showed encouraging signs despite remaining winless. Their scoring was spread evenly across the lineup, with five of their seven players reaching double figures. Oska Rodgers led the way with 18 points, closely followed by Aldo Halilovic with 17 and Kai Horrobin with 16 in a spirited team effort.
For the Wildcats, the victory provides some much-needed late-season momentum as they continue their push towards the postseason. While their path remains challenging, winning all four remaining regular season games would keep their finals aspirations alive.
Despite the defeat, the Sharks continue to compete strongly and will be searching for an elusive first win to reward their persistence before the season concludes.
