VJBL Weekly Wrap – 29/5/26
Each week we’ll be selecting VJBL teams to be a part of our weekly wrap!
With round 10 of the 2026 season now in the books, check out all the latest from each of this week’s selected teams below:
U14 Boys 4: L 41-47
We’re now well over the halfway mark of our season together, what a journey it’s been. This squad’s development is unquestionable, both individually and collectively. Results only matter if you focus on wins and losses. Does a win or loss in Round 10 of our journey define who we are? No it doesn’t.
Bring on Ballarat, an opportunity to grow and use what we learned so far this VJBL season. Nothing to lose, everything to gain.
The glass is always half full and we can’t change the past, what a great place to live.
U18 Boys 4: L 64-65
Despite the one-point result, there was a lot to like. Offensively, we were efficient and balanced, shooting 56% from the field and 44% from three, while also winning the glass 31 to 18 and creating pressure with 10 steals.
The game ultimately came down to possession and conversion. 21 turnovers gave Altona way too many extra chances, and 7 from 14 at the free throw line left points out there in a one-point game.
There were still strong positives: quality shot creation, a clear rebounding edge, and multiple players contributing. If we value the ball, finish at the line, and keep trusting the inside-out balance, this group is right there with the top sides.
It was always going to be tough playing Altona in Altona, but the boys showed plenty. This one stings a little, but also gives us confidence.
