VJBL Weekly Wrap – 27/3/26

Each week we’ll be selecting VJBL teams to be a part of our weekly wrap!

With round 2 of the 2026 season now in the books, check out all the latest from each of this week’s selected teams below:

U12 Girls 2: W 38-15

Another long-distance trip took us to Marcellin College, where we faced the Camberwell U12(5) team. It was a strong performance from our group, coming away with a convincing 38–15 win.

The game began with an intense and hard-fought first quarter, with both teams competing strongly. Camberwell challenged us early, but our players responded well by readjusting the game plan and lifting both intensity and execution for the remainder of the match.

Our defensive pressure was outstanding throughout, proving to be a difficult match-up for the opposition. The team worked cohesively, applying consistent pressure and demonstrating excellent defensive discipline. Offensively, we handled the opposition’s press effectively, with our press breaker allowing us to transition smoothly and maintain control.

It was also a well-flowing game, with minimal fouls and interruptions, allowing both teams to play with rhythm and consistency.

After the match, the opposition kindly provided a treat to thank us for making the trip and to help celebrate one of their players — a great display of sportsmanship and community spirit.

There were plenty of positives to take from the game as our team continues to develop, strengthen connections, and build a stronger bond each week.

We now look forward to enjoying a well-earned break over Easter before returning refreshed and ready to continue the season with a home game on April 24.

U14 Boys 4: W 45-39

We entered our contest against the Altona 4s a little short handed due to injury and illness but ready for anything our opponents were going to bring.

The clear focus for our squad on the night was team defence, especially on ball pressure. We trained really well on Sunday and the boys brought that into this contest, getting out to a double digit lead midway through the second quarter. Our opponents worked their way back into the game but we dug deep, spaced the floor and hit some big shots to run out six point winners at the final buzzer. Being predictable on the floor earns trust and confidence, we really showed those qualities on Friday night in a great team performance.

Spencer Pearson had a breakout game, hitting four threes to finish with 12, Jaxon Whitten and William Bogemann battled hard all night and added 11 and 9 respectively whilst we finished with 30 rebounds and 14 steals as a collective.

A strong way to finish before the break, the path forward is clear, let’s keep working together and anything is possible.

U16 Boys 9: L 44-63

This week the boys played on home turf against Bacchus Marsh 3’s. Our boys went in with 110% effort and played as a team. Even though they didn’t win, we saw intensity and growing confidence as they to continue to grow.

Special mention to William “Billy” on his 100th game tonight!

Well done boys! Enjoy the break and looking forward to the rest of the season.

U18 Boys 4: W 71-49

This week saw us with the elusive “early game” at 8:40 and at home…winning!

Bacchus Marsh 1’s came to our house looking for an upset, but with a full squad of 10, intensity and effort over all 4 quarters, the lads came away with a controlled 71-49 win as we go into the first break with a 3-1 record.
