The Victorian Junior Basketball League (VJBL) has confirmed a restructure to its competition framework for the 2025/2026 season.
The Key Change: Introduction of the Regional League (RL)
The new Regional League (RL) is now officially part of the VJBL competition structure and sits as the third tier of competition, beneath Victorian Championship (VC) and Victorian Junior League (VJL).
Competition Structure by Age Group:
Under 12 (U12): Teams will grade into VC, VJL1β5, or Regional League
Under 14 (U14): Teams will grade into VC, VJL1β8, or Regional League
Under 16 & Under 18 (U16 & U18): Teams will grade into VC, VJL1+
The Regional League will be organised into geographical pools, helping reduce travel compared to higher divisions.
This restructure aims to provide more appropriate competition levels across Victoria while supporting families with more manageable travel commitments.
What This Means for Geelong United:
This restructure allows Geelong United teams to continue competing in the VJBL while reducing overall travel and ensuring teams are grouped into geographic pools if they grade into RL.
This means our players can enjoy strong competition without the burden of excessive travel, making participation more accessible for families across our region.
