GEELONG UNITED BASKETBALL BRAND TRANSITION NOW COMPLETE

Geelong United Basketball (GUB) are pleased to announce the completion of their brand transition.

From VJBL under 12’s through to Big V Youth League and NBL1, all teams will now be known as Geelong United, placing all players throughout all levels under the same name.

This comes after a lengthy re-branding process, starting initially with the merging of Basketball Geelong and Corio Bay Basketball Association – A core piece to uniting all players along the same pathway, where they can play from junior to elite level right here in their own backyard.

The completion of this transition will now see the Supercats naming of GUB’s NBL1 teams come to an end, and whilst an exciting future lies ahead, the past still needs to be acknowledged –
“The Supercats name, which has been a big part of basketball in Geelong, is still independently owned, and we thank the owners for allowing us to use it for as long as we have,” said GUB CEO, Mark Neeld. “Our aim going forward is to forge our own identity while paying tribute to the past. The high level history of both the Geelong Supercats and Corio Bay Stingrays is now reflected in our GUB pathways logo (below right), which recognises what brought us to this elite level of basketball in Geelong.”

With a bright future ahead, Geelong United Basketball is dedicated to continuing its mission – Promoting lifelong activity, and under the GUB banner everyone can be united in doing so.
