RL Signs Geelong United Basketball Women’s Winter Championship | Round 16 Wrap

Experienced big Ella Tofaeono has proven the difference as Pivot City outlasted fellow finalists YMCA with a 78-49 victory in Round 16 RL Signs Geelong United Basketball Women’s Winter Championship action at AWA Alliance Bank Stadium on Tuesday night.

Tofaeono starred with 32 points as Pivot delivered a 24-6 final quarter to claim their tenth victory of the season.

Fellow Geelong United NBL1 star Eve Braslis was also busy with 15 points.

Kim Hammond (12 points) and Tayla Richards (11) battled hard for Y, which has the bye in the final round before meeting Wildcats in the first semi-final.

Wildcats backcourt duo Jasmine King and Sarah Elsworthy have had a night out in a 111-41 victory over Christian College at Geelong Arena.

King made it consecutive 36-point outings, while Geelong United NBL1 co-captain Elsworthy was just as impressive with 31 points.

Ella Wolfenden produced a career-best 20 points to support King and Elsworthy.

Veteran big Candice Byrt paced the Eagles’ scoring with 15 points.

RL SIGNS MEN’S WINTER CHAMPIONSHIP – ROUND 16

Sharks were made to work for the regular season championship-clinching 13th victory of the season by an energetic Surfcoasters.

Trailing by two points at three-quarter time, Sharks – without Georgia Varley – outscored their youthful opposition 22-7 to clinch a 64-51 victory.

Cortney Hollowood paced Sharks’ scoring with 21 points, while Alex Duck and Emma Jarvis finished with 13 points.

Amelia Jovic (18 points) and Annie Poon (16) were standouts for the Coasters.
