United strikes gold in Ballarat

Four Geelong United teams have returned home with the spoils of success after winning grand finals at the annual Ballarat Tournament.

35 teams made the trek up the Midland Highway for the weekend, with many having been in VJBL action on Friday night.

The under-14 boys’ third team had the better of Melton 41-31 in their grand final, while the fifth side overcame the sixth team in a semi-final before defeating Westgate 56-31 in the decider.

The under-14 girls’ first team claimed a thrilling grand final win, 29-28, over Ballarat.

The under-16 girls’ third team was too good for McKinnon in their grand final, winning 37-19.

There were grand final appearances for the under-12 (1) boys, under-16 (6) boys, under-20 (1) boys, under-16 (4) girls and under-18 (2) girls.
