Just a month after his twin brother refereed his 100th Big V match, Mitch Lay reached the same milestone on the weekend when he was part of the team that controlled the Men’s Championship matchup between Melbourne Uni and Bellarine.
Mitch, who started his officiating journey at Try Boys alongside brother Joel in 2011, has racked up numerous achievements during his BigV stint, which began in 2018.
He controlled the Men’s Youth League 2 grand final series in his rookie year and the following year joined Joel in controlling the Men’s Youth League 1 decider.
Mitch continues to officiate and act as a referee educator with Geelong United Basketball.
